CASE STUDIES - FLEETLINK MPT1327 SYSTEM

LINKS:

Scenario: A windscreen replacement company operates a fleet of nine service vans from a depot in Norwich. They need voice communications over an area of approximately 30 miles radius of their depot.
Solution: The company have purchased and installed equipment using our FleetLink MPT1327 trunked system. They can communicate from the depot to individual service engineers or to all engineers as a group throughout their area of work. The system has been configured so that the service engineers can only call the depot with mobile-to mobile calls being restricted. On return to his vehicle an engineer is alerted to any missed calls.
Alternatives:

CBS

Pros - Lower monthly airtime charges.

Cons -Old technology suffering from channel contention issues. Radio equipment does not offer the advanced features of the MPT1327 units.

Mobile Phones

Pros - Communication with 'outside' world and whilst out of FleetLink coverage

Cons - Communication with outside world! Costs are difficult to control being open ended. 'Hidden' costs of calls from depot to mobile

PBR System

Pros - Own system

Cons - Remote base site required to provide adequate coverage. Capital cost of base station equipment. Not cost effective for system comprising 9 mobiles
