The aluminium die-cast chassis provides exceptional strength for rough handling that, when combined with a rugged and sealed case design, enable the ProTalk (TM) to provide years of reliable use. The 3201 meets or exceeds the stringent IP54/55 dust and water intrusion standards and also the US MIL-STD 810 C, D and E environmental specifications for vibration, shock, humidity, dust and light rain.

The radio offers 16 selectable channels, each of which can be programmed by the user to any of the eight built-in PMR446 channel frequencies. The radio features voice annunciation of channel change for ease of operation and a built-in inversion voice scrambler for communication privacy.

The radio is supplied, ready-to-go, with a KNB-29 1500mAH Ni-MH battery pack, KSC-31 rapid charger unit and belt clip.
